The short answer

4978 West Larawood Lane, Herriman, sits on a tenth-of-an-acre lot within the Rosecrest Place subdivision, built in 2006 on former open field. Nearby, Providence Hall Charter School was originally planned for neighboring Bluffdale but relocated to Herriman in late 2007 before opening, later growing into a full International Baccalaureate school with kindergarten-through-twelfth-grade programs, admitted by lottery rather than address.

2007

A charter school relocated to Herriman before opening

The two houses at the address, numbered 4978 and 4968, have no dated story of their own. The nearest thing to a story sits a short walk northeast: Providence Hall Charter School.

The school almost wasn't in Herriman at all. Planners first placed it in neighboring Bluffdale. Late in 2007, before it opened, it relocated to Herriman instead. It became a full International Baccalaureate school. It ran programs from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Students were admitted by lottery rather than address.

A lottery school built for a few hundred kids kept growing for the next fifteen years.
2019 to 2024

A burst waterline shut a school for weeks

The school kept adding pieces it didn't start with. In 2019, it added a football program for the first time. It built a stadium to go with it. Home games are played across town at Zions Bank Stadium. In the summer of 2022, construction crews broke ground on a major expansion behind the elementary building. The project added eleven classrooms, a weight room, a boardroom, and a full regulation gym with six basketball hoops. It pushed enrollment at the elementary school from around 800 students to around 900.

The growth wasn't without a setback. On October 28, 2024, a main waterline broke inside the high school building. Water spread through the gym, the stage, both main hallways, an elevator, and several classrooms. Students switched to online classes. They didn't return to the building until November 18.

2006

A house rose on a former open field

The house at 4978 West Larawood Lane went up in 2006. County records give it 2,860 square feet on a tenth-of-an-acre lot. The listing names a building type and a build year. The field for who holds the deed sits empty in the county's own record.

The house next door, 4968 West Larawood Lane, carries the same blank shape. Both sit inside a subdivision built out in the mid-2000s, on ground that had been open field before that. The record stops at the numbers.

The parcel record has a size and a date, and nobody attached to either.

The deed lists a square footage and a year, and leaves the rest of the page blank.
